Levi had been driving for days non stop, though he could last longer with out sleep then most the effort was beginning to ware him down. So when he saw a sign for what appeared to be a day camp he pulled his black truck off the main road and down the dirt one that lead into the camp. He drove until he found the burned out remains of cabins and a mess hall. He rolled his eyes. Of course it would be a ruin and not something he would be able to use. But perhaps the medical cabin remained some what in tact and he would be able to pilfer some extra supplies. Levi sighed as he parked the truck and got out, a pistol in one hand held pointed to the ground his finger outside of the trigger guard. Strapped across his chest was a knife holster with a pair of knives on each side for easy quick draw just in case he lost his gun. He stood by his truck for a moment while, the heat disappearing from the engine the longer he stayed. His eyes scoring the land for any sign of movement. Once he determined it was fairly clear he moved out keeping in a some what crouched state. his head on a near constant swivel. Levi went to the burned ruins first figuring he should check them for anything good. He was crouched down, his back nearly against a tree as he poked around the blacken bits of wood with a stick when he heard a snap of a twig in the woods. His ears almost twitched as he stood slowly up, the stick remaining on the earth as he brought his gun up. His eyes now scanning the direction where the sound had come from. " Any one there?" He called out in a low voice. He hopped that there was no more then six of the dead if it was them in the woods. He did not want to get into hand to hand with a bunch of zombies. Once more he called out, " Ello?" His voice slightly louder then before.

Charlee stepped out of the bushes to spy a handsome man standing there. She broke into a sheepish grin.
"Sorry i scared you. I was just going for a walk around here. I know this is an odd spot, but the dead don't really come around here as much." She said softly. She leaned against the nearest tree trunk and crossed her arms over her chest. She regarded him.
"You live in Cemetery Gates?" She implied curiously tilting her head to the side curiously. A gentle breeze caught her blond hair whisking it behind her. Her hazel eyes moved around, just making sure that things were relatively safe. For some reason though, the dead didn't come near the water. It was a blessing really and one place people would be able to go to get away from the city at best.
Sometimes living without other humans , well the millions of humans around, got a bit tedious and depressing. She was used to seeing millions of people working outside, driving, selling things on the street and much more. Now it was just dead and quiet. Pun not intended.
"I'm Charlee by the way. What's your name?" she asked softly as she waited for him to reply

When the girl stepped into his line of sight, he waited for a moment then holstered the gun. He looked her over doing a quick check for injury before he spoke. " No I'm just passing through as it were." He said with a shrug. He returned to his crouch and continued poking around the debris. Something glinted in a ray of sun light that filtered down from the trees. He reached out and picked it up. It turned out to be a compass with a cracked glass face. He rubbed his thumb along the crack and put it into his pocket. " I'm Levi. " was all he said. The man was already bored with the situation and had returned to looking for things. It then clicked, " The Dead don't come around here? Why?" He asked as he looked back up at her, now that was fascinating. His mind went to work on the problem. It could be a number of things the main own being the lack of food. He frowned and stood back up dusting his hands off on his dark jeans. " What's got you in the woods?" he added as he looked her over once more.

Charlee hesitated, wondering if she'd caused him to stop some search for something important, but then he stood up and asked her why the dead don't come into the woods.
She shrugged one shoulder. "Mostly cause there's an old charm protecting these woods. An old Native American Legend of some sorts. It keeps out evil spirits and the dead. It stays true" She offered. "I come here for peace and quiet, plus this is where my parents turned"
She added the last part quietly as she stared out at the lake, watching the surface glint and reflect the sunlight that poured through the gnarled branches.
"What about you? What brings you out here?" she implied.
If he didn't want to delve into too much information that was fine. It wasn't really any of her business. She spied the debris he was poking through.
"My mom had gotten the vaccine. They had come up here to camp and rest. One night my mom attacked my dad. My dad fought back. A fire started and their tent went up. I don't know what happened after that" Charlee said quietly.
She didn't know why she was telling him this, but being here tended to cause her mouth to babble. Plus, she felt a connection to this place to some point. She looked at him and shyly lowered her eyes.
"I'm sorry" She said embarrassed and raised a hand to her forehead

Levi let the corners of his mouth pull up. Magic worked against the dead, that was useful to know. He glanced out over the lake then back to her when she talked about her parents. He just nodded the smile gone. He thought for a moment and couldn't really come up with any real explanation. " I'm not sure, when I realize what was happening I figured it would be a bad idea to stay where I was. My house was not made to deal with an Apocalypse, though I doubt many other people's are either. I was also in a city. That many people turning put me off of staying so I left. I just drove not planing on the destination. I figured the woods would be less likely to have the dead. I'm camping here for the night." He finished. He frowned a little and walked over to her. He put a hand on her shoulder. " Nothing to be sorry about." he told her as he removed his hand. He then turned away and scanned the area. " Do you happen to know where the medical or nurse's cabin was? There might be something useful there still."

Charlee smiled and blushed a bit. She listened to him ask about the nurses cabin. She nodded.
"yeah follow me. I know this place really well" she said and began leading him toward the cabins. Her shoes crunched over dead leaves and twigs. A gentle breeze caught her blond hair. A branch snagged on her shirt, and she gently removed it.
"This place is really vast. Anyone not really familiar could get lost easily." Charlee said softly.
Her eyes found the cabin and she took a few steps up the wooden porch. The wood creaked under her weight but she didn't think there was any problem. She pushed open the door and stepped in. Levi was behind her. As she took a side step to the left, her foot went through the wooden floor. She let out a cry. She gripped the edge , more of the wooden planks fell away , causing her legs to dangle precariously above the basement
She cringed, trying to pull herself up.
The wood was so rotten in a few areas that it was dangerous to walk.
"First steps a doozy" She winced at Levi, forcing a joke. She managed to pull herself up onto her elbows, but still needed to get her legs back up on steady ground.

Levi smiled at the sight of the cabin. He had figured that it would be a little bit aways from the others and he had been right. He enjoyed being right. He blinked in shock when the girl went through the floor. He tested his footing before he reached down and grabbed under her arms. " On three." He said before he counted off the numbers and pulled her up out of the floor. He set her down on a strong patch of floor. " Well that was interesting." He chuckled softly before he started to walk forward, testing the floor as he went.
It took a bit of work to get over to the wall and from there to the small room that held supplies. He found that some stuff had been picked clean, or some one had gone through and made a mess out of things. " Is there anything you need?" he called back to Charlee. " You didn't cut your self on the flood did you?" He added as he gathered up a box and started filling it with bandages, and antibiotics.

Charlee grinned at Levi.
"Thanks!" she breathed as she sat on the floor, gathering her wits before she shakily got to her feet.
"Um," Charlee said to Levi. "Yeah preferably some motrin, and bacitracin"
She dusted off her jeans and then checked herself over. She shook her head.
"No, not cut thankfully whew" she breathed. She hugged herself and watched as Levi gathered the supplies. it was highly eerie being around here. Too quiet. She remembered the times when the area was bustling with campers and counselors. The lake was used for boating and canoeing and other fun water sports. Now, it was completely abandoned. Charlee sighed.
"I don't know why I come out here every year. I guess it's just my way of connecting to my parents" she said softly. "Mind If I ask you about you? Like do you have any family or ...?" her voice trailed off.
She glanced outside. The sun dipped behind a cloud, sunset threatening to come. It would be getting dark soon. She reached up and tucked a few strands of hair behind her and waited for Levi to reply. She liked him alright. She arched an eyebrow at his back, looking him over. Yep. The day was productive. A grin formed.
"I never had a boyfriend. It was just me and my parents. Now it's just me" She exhaled

Levi nodded and finished up packing everything away. "My parents died when I was ten. It's been just me for a very long while. I took care of myself." He said with a shrug. He had been in college when his parents had been pushed off of a bridge by a driver who fell asleep at the wheel. He stood up the box in his arms. " Let's get back to my truck." he said as he followed the winding path back out of the cabin. " Why no boyfriend by the way, You don't seem to be the type that would be ignored by men." he said with a smile as he waited for her to make her way out of the cabin. He looked up at the sky and did some quick math. " The sun will be down in about an hour, I should set up camp." He said more to himself then to her.

Charlee smiled and blushed as they made their way back to his truck. Shadows began elongating and she knew that the sun would be setting shortly. They needed to get indoors soon or at least settle. There was no way to make it back to the truck in the darkness. It got PITCH black out here.
"I don't know honestly. I liked this one guy but he vanished. I dunno if he had turned or what" She said sighing. She looked at Levi.
"I'm sorry about your parents" She said softly and quietly. She realized where they were and turned to Levi.
"There's an old cabin off to the left here. It's one level so I know the floor is sturdy. I spent the night there a few nights ago. It's really good" She offered and began leading him toward the cabin.
She had come here a few nights ago, hoping to find some kind of remnant of her parents. But so far no such luck. She glanced at Levi.
"What about you? Any girlfriend?" She asked as she stepped over some dead leaves and twigs.

Levi let himself be lead away from the truck and toward a cabin. He did like the idea of a cabin better then the bed of the truck or a small tent. He shrugged off the comment about his parents. It had happened so long ago it hardly bothered him any more.
He stuck his hands into his pockets as they walked. His booted feet not making as much noise as they normally would. He enjoyed knowing that he could stalk through the forest with out being heard so he practiced every now and then.
Levi's head tilted a little with her question. " No not really, I haven't had time for such things. I've always been busy with some task or another." He said in a non caring manner. He had honestly never thought about dating or such things, he found it all boring and he rather work on important things.

Charlee nodded as she led him into the cabin. Inside was warm and it was secure which was the more important thing.
"You should give dating a try. It's nice having someone care about you and being loved" she said softly.
She cleared her throat and then surveyed the cabin.
"Ok. There's really three rooms here. They're bedrooms. You can pick which room you want. There's a bathroom and a kitchen. I stocked it with food the other day so we have enough to hold us for the night. The bathroom shower works and there's some extra clothes in the closets" Charlee said cheerfully. "There's also a TV in the living room. It's satellite based so we can watch tv at least. Cable wouldn't work out here. We also have a phone that works"
Though I dunno why there's no 911 readily available she thought bitterly to herself and sighed. She closed her eyes momentarily, forcing herself to calm down. Lately she's been feeling a little jumpy and depressed. She opened her eyes and looked at Levi.
"I used to come here quite a bit over the past few years so I've kinda made it like a home away from home" She admitted grinning.

His only response was to raise his eye brow. When he stepped into the largish cabin he looked around slightly surprised. It was bigger then he thought. As she described everything he began to smile. " That is actually fantastic, you did a great job." He said as he walked in a bit more. He breathed in and the tenseness that had been settling between his shoulder blades eased a bit. His head picked up at the mention of a shower. " Does it have hot water, or would that be to much to ask for during the end of the world." he joked. Levi then began to check out the bedrooms. " Which one is your's" he asked not wanting to pick the one she had been using. This was more or less her house and he was not going to be rude. He was also getting that ich in the back of his mind, telling him that the moon was rising. He let out a full body shiver and waited for her to answer.

Charlee pointed to the room off to the right.
"Yep we have hot water" She grinned and saw him shiver slightly. Concern etched her face. "Are you ok?"
She flopped down on the couch and grabbed the remote. Charlee turned on the TV and began flipping channels.
"Make yourself at home. Feel free to dive into the hot water" She joked and grinned up at him. She turned her attention onto the TV now, finding one of her favorite programs. Charlee knew of the supernaturals that had inhabited Cemetery Gates, but she'd never actually met one in person. now she wasn't saying Levi was a paranormal, but you never know these days. They hid so well and blended in. She kicked off her sneakers and stretched out lazily on the couch. She pulled off her shirt, exposing a tank top. She was also wearing a pair of jogging pants. She pulled her blond hair up into a ponytail and fastened it with a rubber band. She felt tired but decided to watch a bit of TV. She turned to Levi.
"There's unscented soap in the shower too. Incase you don't like smelling like a froo froo" She grinned and chuckled. "I know most men don't like to smell fruity"

Levi burst out laughing. " You are my favorite of the day. " He said with a wink. He had been driving to long and he deffiantly needed a shower. He grinned at her. " If you haven't noticed, Froo froo is way better then my current smell." He said as he started unbottoning his shirt. He ducked into one of the rooms and stripped off his clothing. He was going to wash them in the lake, but now he would be able to use a sink. He stepped out of the room in just his jeans. " Be back in a bit." he laughed as he found the shower and turned the hot on all the way. It hissed and filled the room with steam. He sighed in relief. He heard the Tv turn on and fill the cabin with noise. It made him smile, it was as if things were back to normal in this little peice of the world. He threw his jeans to the floor and stepped under the scolding water. He stayed in there for a while, letting the water run down his back over the black tattoo of wings that covered his back on either side of his spine. When he was clean he stepped out, found a towel and dried off. He walked back into his room. Glancing over at Charlee before disappearing. He found the extra clothing and got dressed. Once that was all done he walked back out, bare foot and his hair sticking up all over the place. He sat in a chair that was by the couch and smiled at Charlee. " That was amazing. I'm surprised that this place has running water honestly. " he said before looking at the TV. " So what's still airing?" He asked.
