Charlee glanced at Levi and then quickly turned her eyes onto the TV, forcing heat to stop rising in her cheeks. She cleared her throat.
"I basically maintained the cabin. My dad was a plumber so I kinda picked up the handy stuff" she said grinning. "Plumbing and cars are my specialty. Braiding hair? Not so much"
She laughed at herself and then picked up at his next question about what was airing.
"Well, we get some programs from around the world ranging from China, to Spain and then even the UK. We get a bit of scattered TV shows. There are mostly news stations that come through with reports of the vaccine hitting other states, maybe other nations" She sighed. "I'm not sure if Tagline Enterprises went nationwide with their company, but if they had things are a lot worse than what anyone could imagine if that vaccine went global" She said quietly.
She lazily stretched her arms above her head causing the hem of her tank top to rise up a bit showing off her midriff. She yawned, enjoying the sensation of her body.
"I wouldn't be surprised if they had though" She admitted relaxing again and flipping her hair over her shoulder.

Levi smiled at her. " That's very good, girls should know how to be able to fix things." He then grinned at her. " And it's ok I'm rubbish at braiding hair as well." He joked as he rain his fingers through his own hair making it stick up even more to prove his point.
He sighed as well. " They were planning on it I believe. 'revelotionary new vaccine, cure the sickness world wide' and all that." He leaned back in his chair and watched her for a moment. After a while he stood up, stretching his arms over his head. The flannel button up he had pulled from the room a couple sizes to big on him. He looked from the door then back to her. " I have to go out for a little bit. I'll be back." he promised as he walked out of the cabin bare foot. He stood just out side of the light that was cast from the cabin. He stretched once more and turned to face the forest. The full moon was casting long shadows and silver light. He smiled and pulled his clothing off. It had been far to long since his last camping trip. He had been spending the full moon curled up in a special room at his house He folded the clothing up neatly and put them on the roots of a tree. He then let the moon do it's work and turn him into a wolf. Once on four legs he shook himself happily his black fur fluffing out a bit. With a happy bark he took off running as fast as he could into the forest.
He had been running for thirty minutes when he came to the lake. He padded across the rocky beach and lapped up some water. His left ear twitched as it picked up the sound of foot steps. He crouched low his lips curling up over his teeth. A low growl starting deep in his chest. His nose wrinkled at the heavy scent of dirty human. He was just turning when a gun shot echoed out over the lake and Levi yipped falling over. A burning gouge across his hind leg sending a scream through his mind. He scrambled to his feet as a small group of humans walked out of the woods. They were looking at him like a peice of meat. He growled at him and took off into the forest once more. Adrenilane numbing him to the pain. He darted through the trees untill he ran onto the cabin pourch where he growled and barked at the door. Levi threw his weight at the wood banging against it. Needing to be let in. He needed to warn Charlee.

Charlee heard a banging on the door. Curious, she got up and opened it. A black wolf came barreling into the cabin. She let out a cry and pressed her back against the door closing it. She remained standing there with her back against it.
She kept her eyes on the wolf unsure of what he was going to do. She had a gun, but that was locked away upstairs. There would be no way to get it in time. She slowly slid down on her butt, keeping her back pressed against the cold door.
"Easy boy" she said in a soothing tone, holding her palm outward. She hadn't known wolves were around these parts but then again, they probably escaped the zoo and was now roaming around wooded areas. It was only natural. There was plenty of food around here so that was why they would pick this particular place to stay.
"I'm not exactly tasty" She added in a frightened tone, her voice wavering. She kept her eyes on the floor knowing that eye contact could potentially mean a threat and she didn't want to give off that air about her. She waited, hoping the wolf wouldnt attack her.

Levi slipped on the floor when the door was opened. He crashed into Charlee with a yip then scrambled back up. He looked her over for a moment before he pushed the door shut and collapsed panting. He stared at her when she spoke and gave a small huff. He closed his eyes and returned to his human shape.
He curled in on himself his upper thigh bleeding. He gritted his teeth and sat up slowly. " I don't know, you might be tasty." He teased before he rested the back of his head against the door. " There are people in the woods." He started as his breathing slowed down. " People I don't think would be good to meet. They shot me." He finished with an almost little boy pout at the end. " Shut all the lights off and lets hope they don't find this place." He sighed as he got to his feet. Not minding that he was naked. He limped into the bed room and dug around in the box of supplies that they had pilfered earlier.

Charlee let out a startled gasp as Levi appeared where the wolf was. He must be a shifter! she thought as the initial shock wore off. Of course, he was naked which Charlee managed somehow to block out. It would hit her later. She got up and turned off the lights. She had pretty good night vision, not as good as Levi's more than likely. Charlee sat on the couch, hoping the men would pass by.
Using the moonlight that cascaded through the window, Charlee grabbed the bandage that Levi had and wound it around the gun shot wound. Thankfully it was just superficial, nothing serious.
"They're probably hunters" Charlee whispered. "They go around hunting deer and other wildlife but if they shot you it was probably a warning"
After that she fell silent, keeping close to Levi and watching out the window. A few times a year they came up here. They'd grown to know Charlee and didn't bother her, but if they knew that Levi was what he was, well that wouldn't be good. Charlee kept a hand on Levi's arm, watching as the shadows of the hunters passed by. Clearly they thought she wasn't here so there was no need to knock on the door like they last week. Once she was sure they were gone, Charlee got up and turned on one light.
"Thankfully that's just a superficial wound" She said motioning to the injury on Levi.

Levi thanked her for helping her bandage the wound. He remained silent watching the shadows past. He shuddered once and sighed. " Well that was a fail." He muttered as he stood back up. He walked out side quickly and retreaved his clothing. He put on his pants and sat down in the chair. " first time out in months and I get shot." He muttered as he ran his hand over his leg. "Yes thank god, The guy must have been a crap shot, I'm a pretty big target. That and the moon is bright tonight." he sighed as he leaned back and closed his eyes. After a while of silence he opened them again and gave her a short smile. " Thanks for not freaking out about me." He said softly. " You've either seen my kind before or you're really ok with weird stuff." He laughed.

Charlee shrugged.
"I've always known the supernatural's were out there" She said softly relieved that he was now clothed, at least partially. "It takes a lot to shock me really"
She said softly. "There is one place we can go that no hunters or dead go really. We can visit there next if you want to take a run as a wolf without fear of being shot"
Her lip twitched at that.
"While the dead don't come here, the hunters do. There are other humans here so this isnt' the greatest place if you wanna shift and run" She said yawning again. She stretched lazily and looked at Levi.
"I'm gonna hit the shower and head to bed" she said and got up. She headed into the shower and stripped down. She entered the stall and sighed as the hot water ran over her. Once she was all finished, she grabbed a large body towel and wrapped it around her. Her hair fell in damp strands against her shoulders. The only problem was she had to pass through the living room to get to her bedroom for fresh clean clothes. As she passed through she looked at Levi.
"Thanks for helping me back in the nurses cabin" she said softly as she waited for him to reply

He smiled brightly at that. " Smart girl." He said softly. He always liked when people were open minded enough to believe in the unbelievable. He honestly thought one of the reasons so many people died in the first wave of dead was because no one would accept that the dead were now coming back and attacking them.
Levi smiled, " it would be good to run, but if it is safer here then we can stay. I don't need to shift. It's just a relaxing thing." he told her. " And since this is your home I don't want to drag you away from it." he added. He agreed with her that this wasn't the best place to be a wolf.
" alright then, Sleep well Charlee." He said as he turned to the Tv, he turned it on and clicked through a couple channels before he decided to just sit and think. He turned it off and leaned back into the chair that was oddly comfortable.
Levi was just nodding off when she walked out of the shower and spoke. He gave a small jump, his eyes widening a little at her when he noticed that she was in only a towel. He gave her a smile. " It's not like I would be able to leave you stuck in a floor Charlee." He said happily.

Charlee grinned.
She felt bad for waking him up from the doze. She smiled and lowered her eyes, heading into her bedroom.
She pulled on a camisole and pajama pants. She flopped onto the bed with her back facing the door and just relaxed.
Sure she'd always had an opened mind. Heck, just because there's no proof doesn't mean something didn't exist. She went along believing that until someone proved her wrong. It was like Bigfoot and all that. The pacific northwest was such a vast area, who knows what could thrive up there
Charlee yawned again and closed her eyes dozing off. Eventually she fell into a deep sleep and dreamed.
She saw her parents coming toward her. They were the undead, their eyes milky white. She was running from them, but they still managed to catch up to her. She scrambled back on the ground, but her mother grabbed her ankles. She trembled in fear as her mother's hands wrapped around her neck, squeezing. Charlee screamed
She ended up waking up screaming. She sat bolt upright, sweat clinging to her chest and back. Her blond hair fell over one shoulder. It was pitch dark in the room, the only light coming from the moon outside.

Levi had managed to get into his own bed, he lay away for a while before falling back asleep. He was woken some time later by a scream. He was out of the bed and down the short hall in a matter of moments, he had his gun drawn his eyes scaning the cabin for danger. He went to Charlee's door and shoved it open the gun coming first into the room as he stepped in searching for what caused the scream.
When he didn't find anything he lowered the gun and put it down on a shelf. " Charlee. Are you alright?" He asked as he walked over to her bed. His expression one of concern. He sat on the edge of the bed and looked her over. His mind already figuring out that she had a nightmare. It was logical considering what had happened to their world.

Charlee heard Levi enter the room. He sat on the edge of her bed. Charlee burst into tears and buried her face into her hands.
"I had a horrible nightmare" She said as tears streamed down her cheeks.
She felt stupid for waking him up like that but it was such a horrible dream. She leaned forward and just pressed her forehead against his chest.
"I dreamed that my parents tried to attack me. They were the undead" Charlee sobbed.
She hadn't had a nightmare in a long time. This was the first time she had one. She never wanted to have another one like it in a long time.
"I'm sorry I woke you I feel so stupid" She admitted slowly pulling away from Levi.
She sniffed and tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear. She avoided eye contact with Levi, feeling really foolish and embarrassed like she was 5 years old running into her parents' bedroom after having a nightmare about monsters in her closet. This however, was reality. There were real monsters out there. While they didn't hide in the closet, they were still around regardless

He didn't say anything, he simply collected her up in his arms and held her until she pulled away. " It's fine, and you're not stupid. It's alright to have nightmares." He said softly as he stood up from the bed. " with times being as they are. It's to be expected." He shrugged. He gave her a kind smile and turned to leave. He paused at the door way. " If you need anything just call out." he smirked as he tapped his left ear. " Awesome Wolf hearing and all that." He chuckled as he left and returned to his own room. He put his pistol away and lay on his back looking up at the ceiling. His mind wondering from thought to thought. His mind to busy to allow him any more sleep.
The sun rose up and light filled his room. He sat up and stretched the bones in his back cracking. He yawned and swung his legs over the edge of the bed. He checked his wound and smiled as he removed the bandage. All that remained was a thin pink scar. He disposed of the blood stained bandage and walked into the kitchen. He checked what was in the frigde. " Hey Charlee! want some breakfast?" he called out as he started pulling stuff out of the box.

Charlee smiled and managed a chuckle as Levi left her room.
The next morning, she woke to warm sunshine on her face. She heard someone moving around in the kitchen but then remembered Levi was staying here too. Yawning and stretching lazily, she padded into the kitchen.
"Hey. Sure. Breakfast sounds great" She said plopping down in the chair.
She hastily ran her fingers through her hair as it was matted and standing up every which way. Finally after calming her hair, Charlee got up and began making some toast while Levi made the breakfast.
"Sleep ok?" Charlee asked. "I mean after I had my nightmare and probably woke up the entire forest" She added deadpan popping some bread into the toaster.
The morning promised to be lovely out. There was a slight chill in the air warning that fall was coming. She put the toast on a plate and sat back down waiting for the rest of her breakfast.
"We can head back into the city today. Or if you need to go anywhere in particular" Charlee said and waited for him to reply.
She was up for anything really. She didn't have anyone so she was free to move around

Levi was busy making pancakes when she walked in. " Yeah I slept fine." he lied as he flipped the cake over the now top a perfect golden brown. " Do you like eggs? I remember that my mother hated them so I thought I would ask." He said as he busied himself with food making.
" I don't have any where to go, but cities might be a bit dangerous. Seeing as they were where more of the vaccine was administered." he said as he added the pancake to a small pile. He then turned to a pan that was full of chunks of meat. The smell of it cooking was making his mouth water. He had run out that morning and went hunting and found a a couple rabits. Though she didn't need to know that, nor did she need to know that he ate two when he was still a wolf.

Charlee nodded.
"True. But my neighborhood is gated. Nothing gets in or out without a code" She said to him. "We could head to my place and lay low for a bit, only going into the city when needed"
She tilted her head.
"My car's nearby" She added to Levi and dug into her breakfast hungrily.
Her stomach rumbled as she devoured the bacon and sausage. She hadn't realized just how hungry she was at this point. Once she was finished, she turned to Levi.
"I'm gonna change and then we can get going." she said softly. She headed into her room and pulled on a pair of jeans and a tee shirt. She gathered up her hair and fastened a rubber band around it. A few shorter strands hung down against her cheeks. She pulled on her sneakers and headed back into the kitchen.
"The area where I live is pretty secure" She offered and waited for Levi to change.
She liked living in the gated community. Nothing could get past the fence, and you needed a special code punched into the number pad on the front. She watched Levi
