Baylee Thomas Shepherd It was really dark and the eighteen year old haven't stopped running. The law were after him from murdering another person. The blood was all over him, covering his face, arms, chest and shoes. The forest was the best place to hide, so he quickly ran in. Finally the sirens were fading and he was safe. Heart was racing like mad, and he got his paper out three down, two more to go, he thought as he marked a red cross across the face of the doctor responsible for his parents death. Walking through the leaf litter and the woods was really scary in the dark, twigs were snapping and he was shaking some more. Heart was racing as his vocals back to screamed out "Hello? Who is there?!" He yelled out in the darkness some more.
Soon his legs began to run some more and he came to a lake, and threw some water over his face washing the blood of his skin. The twigs were moving again, and he was worried there were wolves or other large animals which would eat him alive. Running again there was a hole covered in leaf litter and he didn't know until he fell down, and twisted his left knee which was really sore now. The hole was far to deep for him to get out of his own, and he needed help. Being alone in the darkness the eighteen year old wasn't going to get help anytime soon, as the noise he was hearing all the time, his eyes began to close as he waited for his life to finally come to end.

Derrick had been scouting the woods for some time. His hunt began early this morning, to Marnie's dislike. Throughout the day he wandered around the town, killing one zombie after another. For the lonely roamers he kept to his weapon of choice, the bow and arrow. It was silent but deadly. Not to mention efficient. He needed little ammo, unless of course he lost some arrows but he was good with keeping track of them. For those that were group her resorted to the gun and then quickly relocated himself because the noise attracted more. Eventually he was led into the woods were very few wandered but patrolling the area would keep others from outside of the town from getting in. That had been his main goal lately but everyday it seemed as though their numbers kept growing.
The sunset had already set and Derrick knew if he didn't start heading home then Marnie would start to worry. He kept his gun gripped in his right hand and he began tracking out of the woods. There was soft sounds of sirens in the distance, which made him shake his head. Damn cops. Always making noise and causing trouble. They acted as though they were helping but they really needed to be out hunting like he was. Eventually it felt silent again and he continued back tracking but there he heard footsteps threw the brush. Derrick quickly became alert, ready to shot any living dead that came across his track. As he listened more intently he recognized that the footsteps were quick. Someone was running and he knew better than anyone that re-animaters couldn't run.
He followed the noises to wards the lack until they stopped. He glanced around trying to figure where the person had gone until he stumbled across one of his traps he made. The holes were perfect to trap zombies in but when he looked down the only thing in there was actually living. "You weren't the catch I was expecting." Derrick commented as he reached his hand down into the hole for the kid to grab. He looked no older than twenty and wondered what he was doing roaming around in the woods. "You shouldn't be out here this late." He pulled the kid out with little trouble. He looked over the blonde and shook his head.

Baylee Thomas Shepherd The hole was really huge and why would someone dig something like this in the middle of no where. He sat on the floor and his left foot really hurt and knee was swollen, bleeding a little. Still he have had worst and he ripped some of piece of shirt, and he wrapped it around his wound, all he hoped is that it wouldn't rain at all, otherwise he would end drowning, which was a really scary thought.
Sitting down on the soil and leaf litter, he felt some loose soil falling on his shoulder, and then looked up. He saw some weirdo person. He immediately thought he was a cop oh another kind of law enforcement. Hearing his voice he growled a little some more.
"Is that some kind of joke?" He yelled out some more to him. "I am not some kind of monster you know, you freak! Just get me out of this shitty hole NOW!" The eighteen year old wasn't happy, well it not surprising, been chased for three days by the cops and later trapped like some zombie like monster.
Grabbing his hand he was lifted out of the hole. He winced as his leg really hurt and he wouldn't be able to run away from the law enforcements for while. Blood was running down from the broken wound, which wasn't good while there were so many predators around the forest. That's none of your business. What are you doing placing traps for and why were you following me? He asked as he leaned against the tree, and took the weight off his injured leg. Anyway good luck you freak, he spoke and used every tree he could find to limp away, being out in the open wasn't good thing and he needed to get in cover now.

"Maybe if you weren't running around in the forest at night you wouldn't have been trapped." Derrick retaliated to the kid's bad attitude. He really didn't have time to deal with someone who was going to act like this. Clearly he wouldn't be an easy one to get along with. Frankly he had no patience to try either. "I'm hunting and definitely not for people like you." the bahaviorism of the young man surprised. Derrick very well could have left him in the whole with no way out and as clear bait for the living dead that roamed the woods. He watched as the kid tried to hobble away. This would be an interesting to tell Marnie when he got home. Afterall it was an explanation to his lateness. "With wounds like that zombies will find you faster than whoever you are running from." For a moment he hesitated to follow. He was only wasting time on what seemed like a lost cause but he wouldn't forgive himself if he didn't try. The last thing he need was another re-Animater wandering around the town.
"Do you really think you will survive out here like that?" Derrick followed with some distance. The kid had some obvious anger issues. The thing he needed was to be attacked by a human but with the wounds it didn't seem likely. "You at least need somewhere to stay while you heal. Do you have that at least?" Why he cared was beyond him. During his old hunting ways, while traveling across the states, worrying about another's well being hadn't been his style. The twenty-seven year old was quick to move on. He had been emotionally detached from situations but ever since arriving in Cemetery Gates, everything had started changing. After meeting Marnie, Derrick seemed to soften towards others. He was more open to helping others but it was people like this kid that made him realized why had stopping helping in the first place. "You're lucky I didn't leave you in that whole. Actually you're lucky I followed you. So maybe you should be a little more grateful." He rolled his eyes and stopped walking. This didn't seem like it wasn't going anywhere. What was the point? He wasn't really in the mood to argue with him either.

Baylee Thomas Shepherd A growl release from his vocals. He snapped back at him. "I can do what I like you piece crap! I am freaking eighteen years old, who lost his parents at the age of ten years old, and been left roaming alone to defend himself. So whatever I was running away from, is my business and nothing to do with you. Why don't you go and suck someone freaking penis, and pissed off." His mouth and talk was really sick and horrible. His trust was clearly not there and he would attack the older guy if he wasn't careful. "You need to have a better job and maybe go and have a shag off your boyfriend or something" he smirked as he said that, trying his best to wind the person up.
Holding on the tree some more he rolled his eyes. "You don't expect me to believe that do you? Zombies only exist in legends and movies, you need to be locked up you are freaking mental", he said as he kept trying to leave but his injury was too painful. Admitting to defeated he sat on the litter of the forest floor. "I have survived lot worst than this. Can you see scars you stupid person? If I die I die, I don't care at least I be away from this stupid world" he said and looked down. Why does this stupid prick care anyway? He must be a freaking copper, he as to be, he thought to himself more. "I live in the forest, and that's where I am staying, you have problem with that? Also do I look like I have got any money? How the fuck am I suppose to afford an hotel, anyway I love being in the outdoors. I am free and no one can tell me what to do or say. So bye bye" He waved his hand, as he heard something rustling more and twigs were snapping as they were stepped on.
Something was watching them or most importanly stalking them. Baylee looked around "What is that?" He asked the older person, since he would know more. Two zombies were closing in, smelling the fresh blood from a wounded person. Baylee tired to get up again and ran the best he could. Then suddenly something tackled him to the ground, and he was fighting the thing, didn't want to get bitten. He screamed loudly, as he blamed this on Derrick, if it wasn't for him, he wouldn't be in this mess right now and fighting for his life.

"Ya. Because somehow you came to the conclusion I was gay. Was that before or after I pulled your sorry ass out of the hole?" Derrick shook his head, trying to compose his anger. This kid was really getting on his nerves. The kid was lucky that his parents weren't around to see how he treated others. Needless to say he could tell that a lot of the frustration came from the loss of losing them. The twenty-seven year old understood. He watched his family die right before his eyes. Children and all. Though that wasn't something he needed to say. The last thing he needed was an excuse for his own behavior. He didn't need to explain himself to anyone or parade around with a pitty party.
"Where the hell have you been for nine years?" Derrick stared at the kid in amazement as he continued to rant, exposing the fact that he had no idea zombies were roaming the earth. "Oh I need to be locked up? Says the kid who screaming at a stranger who just saved your life but if you really don't care about it that much then I will gladly help you back down the hole." And that he would hold his word to. Derrick really regretted every turning around. Not only would he have to deal with a delusional teenager but with his girl friend when he got home. Marnie would not be happy but hopefully she'd cut him some slack once he told her the story. "I have better things to worry about." He offered no goodbye and simply turned away from the guy. He hesitated when turning around, not wanting to respond to the kid's sudden worry. Derrick knew exactly what had been stocking them.
He retrieved his gun from it's holster and aimed at one of the re-animaters. He shot it square in the head, despite the lack of light around them. He was lucky he was farm boy from Texas who hunted as if it was a religion. The man glanced up, noticing the teen and the second re-animater was gone. He listened for a moment until he heard the screams and ran no more than thirty yards until he found them on the ground. For a moment Derrick hesitated, as if teaching the kid a lesson and then shot another round threw the zombie. He kicked it's now official dead body over so it slumped to the ground. "Now who needs to go to a mental hospital." Derrick placed the gun back at his side before turning back around. He had no more patience for the kid.

Baylee Thomas Shepherd As the zombie was shot dead he was shocked, getting it off him and he crawled over a bit, panting deeply. 'They are real. That's what mother and father have turned into. That's what the vaccine have truly have done' he thought to himself and was a little upset. Ok he was all tough and aggressive, but his heart was always in the right place when you hit it right. So when the hunter, who ever he was called himself came onto him and yelled at him a little he looked down again.
"Listen I am sorry all right. It just everything as been horrible and turned upside down. I mean my parents were gone after they had the new vaccine. No word to say they were all right or anything, they just vanished. Now I know why. You killed them didn't you, because they turned into those things over there. Why did you kill them? Did you know there would be a cure soon and you wouldn't have to hunt and kill people anymore. What if it was your wife or girlfriend, could you have killed them?" He asked him not being funny or anything he was being serious.
"The reason I am here in the woods is that I am running from the cops. You see I killed someone well three doctors in fact, so the police are chasing me now. That's when I bumped into you. I have been running form my problems for a long time. I am sorry for the way I treated you and I am grateful for your life" he admitted to her and then played with his fingers some more. While he waited for him to reply back to him and hope he would forgive him as well.

Derrick paused in his tracks as the kid spoke again but with a softer tone. He was still slightly annoyed at initial reactions to one another but he turned around and listened. It was clear the guy had learned his lesson as well as realized what was going on with the world. It still surprised him of oblivious reality was to come people but with goals set in stone in ones mind, it was understandable to push some things away. "I kill every living dead in sight. It's nothing personal." Derrick replied blatantly. Being a hunter was his passion. It was his own revenge for his family who had been attacked and turned. He'd much rather nip the problem from where it originally started but the capability of finding a cure was still up in the air for the CDC. Yet he still had his doubts. "Did you know that they've been searching for a cure for nine years...and nothing has been found." He rose an eyebrow in defense of what he does. "Yes I would." His jaw muscles tenses as he remembered the dream he had of Marnie turning. "These things aren't people anymore. They're a threat and they need to be gone." The stalky man leaned up against a tree as he continued to speak. What he said was true but that didn't mean it would have been easy.
"Your welcome." Derricks frustration started to subside as the kid apologized. Clearly they has gotten off on the wrong foot but he was still hesitant with the knowledge that someone so young had been killing. And not zombies but humans. His eyes scanned the young man before him, knowing he couldn't leave him out here to fend for himself. Especially while he was injured. "Well your welcome to stay at my place while you heal." Derrick offered, shifting the bow and arrow on his shoulder. "Besides I'll need proof to show my girlfriend as to why I'm not home already." He smirked as he turned around and started a slow pace out of the woods. He wasn't exactly sure how Marnie would feel about bringing in a stray but she'd understand. They had a knack for helping people and he knew that she would have done the same thing.
