Chuugi was walking along the beach, her skirt stopped at about mid-calf and the hem fluttered in the wind. It was a nice enough day, it wasn't to cold and the sun was shining. She stopped and slipped off her shoes, she carried the flats in her left hand and continued walking. Her hair was down and the ran her right hand throught it before stopping once again to grab a handful of sand. She started to walk again and let the sand pour out of her hand as she walked along.
She loved the beach, because she loved the smell of natural water. Her zodiac sigh was cancer the crab, or a water sign. So she liked water be it rain, oceans, rivers, streams, or ponds. She could sit and watch water for hours while she just counted. Chuugi always counted when she wanted to relax or fall alseep. The smooth rythem of the numbers in her head calms her and relaxes her mind so her body can relax as well.
She decided to stop walking and just sit in the warm sand and count while she watched the water. She put on her sunglasses so the glare wouldn't bug her while she spent sometime alone. The hat on her head felt loose so she reached up and pulled it back down in place. Her naturally straight hair fluttered into her eyes and she winced at the sudden intrusion into her eye and shut them. When she got the hair out of her eyes and was able to see, she noticed someone moving toward her.

Kir twirled a dagger around his fingers, it was a habit he didn't even know he had. He did it when he was nearing the time he had to feed or lose the benefits of his vampire blood, he wasn't a danger to anyone for now but he would have to find a deer or something soon maybe he would take a few days longer to maybe find a wild pig or pheasant or something. Living in venison all the time was a bit tiring.
The smell of the water was refreshing as his pockets went clack clack clack with each step and he thought of going for a swim, it would be cold but the shock would be nice, plus it had been a while since he had a swim. Then again in blue ripped jeans and a thin black woollen jumper it may not be a good idea. He finally broke away from his thoughts to look out over the surface of the water, it was the water he liked at beaches, sand is a persistent thing that gets everywhere.
There was a woman standing not far from him as he walked towards his usual spot so he slide the blade into the sheath running down his spine. The clacking stopped as he reached his hand into his pocket to pull out a handful of pebbles, "Hey there." he said with a slight bow, his Scottish accent was still clear as a bell after nearly thirty years away from his home. The dhampir male held the pebbles out to her and smiled as he threw one to skim across the water, "Want some?" he offered as his first shot plopped below the surface after ten skips. Being a little friendly never killed anyone.

Chuugi lifted her glasses and looked up at the man standing next to her. She dusted off her feet and slipped her shoes back on and stood, then dusted off her skirt. She turned her head to look at him, then reached into his open palm and took a stone. "Hello." She smiled kindly and hooked her sunglasses on her shirt, then she skipped the stone twice across the water. She loocked out at the water and watched the stone sink.
She turned her whole body to face this stranger, she knew that he was human but at the same time he wasn't. She knew he wasn't a zombie or reanimated so she wasn't frightened, just curious. "My name is Chuugi Asoto." She nodded her head politely, because the bowing usually scared people; they just din't know what it ment. She smiled and held out her hand, Hahasan always said: 'Be polite and be kind, and someone will always be by your side.' Oh how she missed her family.
She carefully reached out her hand and plucked another stone from his had to skip across the water. She closed her eyes slowly then turned quickly and flund the stone out over the water, it skipped eight times then sunk with a sucking sound. It made her giggle, "What brings you to the beach?" She turned her gaze to him, the water sparkled in her warm eyes..

He smiled at her as she took a stone from his hand, "They aren't the best to skim across water but they will do. Plus even with the best I can't get close to the world record, I'm sure it is fifty something. Mine is only about twentyish, guess you could say I spend to much time doing something so trivial huh?" he asked with a half grin, if you want Kir to ramble on and on stick a beautiful woman in front of him, he doesn't talk well around people but he is worse around women, saying some stupid fact about skimming stones for instance. Idiot.
He had to admit to himself though that this girl, Chuugi Asoto was almost aesthetically perfect to him. Aesthetically perfect... urgh that has to the most geeky way of calling a girl drop dead gorgeous. he thought to himself and shook his head slightly, hell stick some glasses on her and Kir would be drooling. He hoped her sunglasses weren't those ones that change between sunglasses and normal ones, staring isn't at all polite. Which he was doing right now, looking into her eyes. Anyone got a bib for this fool?
"I'm sorry. That was rude of me." he said dragging his eyes away and to the horizon as he cast another stone, this one he threw as hard as he could with only the intention of getting it as far as he could rather than skimming it as his cheeks turned a bit red. "I am Squall Leonhart, no wait Kir Leonhart... Yikes." he managed to squeeze out before a loud long exhale.
He took a deep breath, the fresh almost untainted air, the wind had suddenly changed midbreath bringing the scent of death with it as it blew from the direction of civilisation. It was a faint scent, they weren't in any danger from zombies, for now anyway. "Let me start again, my name Miss Asoto is Kir Leonhart. I haven't been around people much since this whole undead thing started so if my crappy social skills have offended you I offer my most sincere apologies." he told her his green eyes back on hers as he smiled warmly, he was starting to talk like his best friend now, damn that ancient half blood. While he was "human" he would have just looked at the ground and said nothing until she got bored and wandered away after something like that. Silvian was a great friend to have made some depressed weirdo into someone that could get around most awkward situations and kick some paranormal arse, of course he is still totally useless at flirting, he has had no luck picking up any of his elder's charm. Can't be badass at everything right?

"I don't think it's trivial. It's something you enjoy." She smiled happily. But just about the time the words escaped her mouth she realized that he wasn't just listening to her and keeping eye contact to be polite. He was staring at her, it caused a blush to spread over her left cheek and cross over her nose to splash some color onto her right cheek. She turned her face away from him and looked back out at the water, letting her hair fall across her face.
She used the hair covering her face and shielding her eyes to steal glances at the man next to her. He was handsome with a strong jaw line and beautiful eyes. He could be a model if he wanted to but their was no point now. The world was pretty much over. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She could feel the blood moving away from her face so she looked back at him the blush gone from her cheeks. She quickly brushed the hair behind her ear and smiled at him.
She listened to him introduce himself, by two names. Chuggi was slightly confused for a moment until he re-introduced himself. It seemed like he preferred the name Kir. She daintily lifted her skirt between her first finger and her thumb, then she slid her right leg behind her left and dropped into a curtsy. "Hello Kir, it is perfectly understandable. And your social skills don't seem that hindered to me.' She spoke as she lifted herself up from the curtsy in one movement.
Chuugi was always graceful, no matter what she was doing. She had learned it from her grandmother, and that was also how she learned how to do the arts. Like flower arranging, singing, dancing, and serving tea. She looked back into his green eyes and blinked slowly, letting her eyes do the smiling. She carefully reached out and took two stones from his hand. She tucked one of them into her shirt pocket then she let the other one move from her hand and out across the water. Skipping about five times before being swallowed by the ocean.
"What brought you out here to the ocean today?" Her brown eyes never moved away from his green ones.

"My father, my adoptive one that is enjoyed it. It relaxes me, old memories and all that. Thankfully my adoptive parents died old and happy before the shit hit the fan. Can you imagine being in your eighties in this shithole of a world? Zombie bait if anything, this sounds horrible but I would have put a bullet in their heads before I let the dead get them." he told her with a slight shrug, he didn't know what had happened to his adoptive parents, he stopped talking to them about 5 years before the shift in the food chain. It bothered him but there is nothing he can do about it so he just lives on.
He had a grin at seeing her blush, he could smell it to but it is not something you can explain. Emotions smell like emotions as fruit smells like fruit, you can describe a smell as smelling of bananas but you could not describe exactly what a banana smells like, emotions are the same way.
He saw her confusion after his little slip up with his name so he thought he would explain, "Well you see my name is Kir Leonhart but a character in a game about fifty years old is called Squall Leonhart. Has a sword that is also a gun and a big scar across his face. I uh... lost my train of thought cause um... you are... how do I explain this without seeming shallow or a twat? Beautiful? Gorgeous? Just wow?"
He smiled as she curtsied and he gave her a perfect bow. His master was a hard taskmaster when he taught him how to fight, old fashioned actions were also part of the train or he would have no clue how to bow, "We just haven't talked about anything important. Trust me, it won't be all that fun. Unless you like other games from the end of the twentieth and the start of the twenty-first centuries. Like GLaDOS, do you know her?"
The dhampir almost winced as he remembered she asked that question before, strike one. "Ah I am most ashamed my dear lady. To have completely ignored that question by being to entranced by your beauty, I fear an am no knight at all but a mere charlatan." he said in a dramatic over the top way, he was no actor however and it was a really bad performance so with a grin he dropped to the ground in that natural way vampires have, heck the stones on his hand didn't so much as vibrate. "I came here to skim stones. I needed a day off, there is only so much death you can handle all at once."

"You're beautiful." he replied with a slightly embarrassed grin, hell his childhood movie crushed couldn't compare to this girl and that was a long time ago to, those women would be old as hell if they are still alive. He saw a glimpse of how she would look in glasses when she put her sunglasses back on, but it was the eyes he needed to see, he always thought it was the effect on the eyes that made his so attracted to women in glasses.
"You little one are just full of surprises are you not? It is impressive. How far back does your gaming geekiness go? Just seventh gen?" he asked smiling warmly and leaning a little closer being very intrigued here. He laughed and gave her a quick wink, "Nerds are sexy." he whispered to her and smirked thinking he would get another blush from her. Will that become a new hobby of his? To make this girl in front of him blush.
He nodded at her answer and smiled, "The ocean is a nice place to relax. Man didn't succeed in putting cities at a lot of them. Keeps the air clean." he replied as he took a stone and placed it in her hand, quickly bringing it to his lips and kissing her knuckles before flicking his eyes up ti her face to gauge her reaction, "It should be me who is glad you were already here.".

"I know. Tis the world's greatest predator in me." he said to her with a grin. If there was one thing most legends agreed upon was that vampires were the most beautiful creatures in existance, all the easier to snap up young girls and take them out for a bite to eat. He wasn't exactly a looker until after he started to drink blood, it seemed to him that sometimes the bloodhunger was worth it to be what he was. "Yeah, video games are awesome, I hope my stuff is still safe in storage. I haven't had a good session in years, on the road too much." he said with a sigh, that was the one thing he missed about the prezombie era (well these zombies, we shall not talk about necromancers in this lovely setting), his free time just lounging around gaming, it is easy to carry around a few books or even pick up the same book elsewhere and read where you left off, but carting around several kilos of zombie creating (again a different kind) plastic is far from practical.
"If that was from pokemon it sucked. That show and game series was milked dry, it ended after Gold." he said looking at her like she had done something weird, which she had, she was in her late teens early twenties or something like that and there she is doing something like that. She was certainly... odd.
Boom, there she was blushing yet again. Was he getting good at this whole 'talking to girls' thing or was Chuugi just so easy to embarrass? Kir was having a nice day off, which is saying something seeing as he is either reading or working, not much time to truly relax and have fun, "It is full of refreshing scents. Cities and towns reek to high heaven, zombies do not help that much either. Get one of those busy streets like New York and the varying human smells is enough to make you vomit, well if you could smell them all. All that deodarent and sweat as well as urine and faeces and just plain old dirt, add in some rotting food and pets and you could tell how disgusting it was. So the ocean was a nice way to clear out some pretty horrifying things from your mind.
"Make me." he whispered softly to her after a wink before his lips turned upwards into a grin, one so wide and genuine it showed off his teeth. "Let the lady decide." he said tossing his remaining stones in an arc into the ocean, the only one left was the one in her hand, "If you can skim that more than fifteen times you can do whatever you wish with me. Within reason. I won't let you kill me or something like that but I would cook for you if you wish it. I do not suggest having me cook, I have good chances of killing you."

She frowned when he said that Pokemon ended after Gold. "Well whatever." She smiled again quickly, "I have stuff at my place. I play at night when I can't sleep or when someone is staying with me." Then after she told him what scents she liked he started talking about how city's stink and are dirty. She crinkled her nose and had a funny expression on her face. "Ew....Let's not talk about that ok. That's really gross."
She laughed when he said, 'Make me.' But was caught off guard by his smile. It was so beautiful, how his lips curled up at the corners and were stretched over his teeth. Not showing to much but not hiding it all. She wanted to reach out and touch his teeth, just to see if they were real. But she shook her head at the sounds of the other stoned sinking into the water, and blinked. She wondered how long she was just staring at him and she blushed. "S-Sorry..." She looked at his hand still over hers and she could feel the stone on her palm. She nodded at him then pulled her hand from his and faced the ocean. She took a few deep breaths and closed her eyes. She moved her lips, in silence, quickly. Then she flicked her wrist and let go of the stone. She kept her pose frozen, she looked sort of like those music box ballerina; the ones that stood on one leg and had their other leg stretched out behind them and one arm up and the other one stretched out forward. She watched the rock skip once, twice a third time. Soon the stone started to slow but it had already skipped thirteen times.
Fourteen.
Fifteen.
Then it just stopped and sunk quickly. As if it had to make it to fifteen skips. She slowly lowered her leg and her arm. Her eyes sparked with tears at the corners, one rolling down her cheek silently. She stood looking out at the ocean, the light of the setting sun playing on her back. She turned toward Kir and nodded, smiling. She took a step toward him, "How about I cook for you instead?" She smiled and shook her head gently to make her hair move around her face in soft waves. Then she slipped her glasses over her eyes and held out her hand. "Would you mind walking a pretty lady home? After all you are a gentleman aren't you?" She pulled down her sunglasses and winked at him, causing the other tear fall down her cheek. She put her glasses back on her nose and let a few more tears well up in her eyes and roll down her cheeks with a happy smile on her face.

"You have people staying with you a lot?" he asked curiously with a raised eyebrow. This girl gets more or more odd, her nose screwing up from him talking about all the nasty smells of man was kinda cute and he grinned, "You want gross try being covered in dragon vomit. Sometimes I wake up still smelling that, glad it was my brother she puked over. I was in stitches, almost laughed up my lungs."
He waited a few moments before he smirked and folded his arms over his chest, "Like what you see." he teased and stuck his tongue out. Being so old you would think he would have grown up but being able to live as long as vampires do means he can still act like a kid sometimes. Just like vampires don't act as old as they do, it is all about finding fun when you can with a long life.
Laughing he reached out to mess up her hair a little, "Nothing to be sorry for, you just returned the favour." he said, his voice almost ringing with his previous laughter. He watched as she threw the stone and counted each time it bounced off the water. Ah she was exactly fifteen, hmmmm perhaps he would still allow the little deal. He watched a tear roll down her cheek and he gently wiped it off her face with his thumb before he took her hand and smiled, "Of course I wouldn't mind, I would enjoy it really but why are you crying?" he asked frowning slightly as he wiped more from her cheeks, "You know I suppose I could let you win the challenge with fifteen."

"I let people who are passing through stay in my extra bedrooms since I live alone, keeps me and other people from beaing alone. And I give them a good meal and a warm bed." She shruged, as if everybody did it and he was the only one out of the loop. But im alone at the moment, the last person left two days ago. He had noticed her stareing at him and she felt dumb for acting like that. But he made her laugh when he stuck his tongue out at her like a little boy.
He reached out to mess up her hair and she looked at him questioningly before reaching up and quickly grabbing her hat, then pulling it down and holding it close to her head. "Nuuuuuuuu!" She whined and pouted. "Don't mess up my hair!" She managed to wiggle out from under his hand. Then she stopped and fixed her hair and placing her hat back on her head.
As they headed back toward her house he touched her cheek. He wiped something off of her cheek, it sparkled on his thumb like the ocean did in her eyes. She reached up and touched her other cheek, it was wet. Am I crying? She looked into his face and lifted up her sunglasses. They sat on her head over her hat, she looked funny. "I am not sad, and I would have won anyway no matter how many times the stone skipped. I was just thinking of my sister when I threw the stone. It made me happy, I never even realized that I was crying. I'm sorry." She smiled up at him and even though her cheeks were still a bit wet, and sticky from the drying tears, her eyes shone with happieness.

"Aren't you worried about some psycho and/or rapist into your place? Some of the greatest monsters I have seen were human, end of the world wouldn't change that either." he asked her looking down with a worried smile. There is being nice and hospitable then there is being reckless and naive, he was thinking this girl could be a bit of all four, the fact some idiot hasn't taken advantage yet could mean she can kick some major arse. Or just be extremely lucky.
The male laughed so hard he doubled over, some things do not change. Like women obsessing over their hair. He stayed bent over for a few more minutes, his laughing had hurt some bruises that had yet to heal, he had jumped backwards out of a window to avoid a small horde. He was good and fast but he can still get overwhelmed, he had hurt his ribs landing on his back going through the window.
"So shall we get going again?" he asked waving his hand forward for her to go first. He cupped her cheeks and shook his head, keeping his eyes locked on hers, "Do not ever be sorry for your emotions. They make you who you are and define your soul."
He then smirked and winked at her, "Oh and just so you know, you wish you could have won anyway. It is only by the grace of one terribly kind dhampir that you were allowed to win."
