He had rolled out of bed-off the couch-this morning knowing by the cries of his sister and cousin that today was going to be a bad day. The two youngest members of the household had woke up to nightmares about what sounded like the deaths of everyone else in the house. He let out a cough as he entered the kitchen where his Aunt Rita was making breakfast and sat down heavily in one of the chairs around the table before letting his head fall with a thud onto the wood. He felt terrible and the fact that he had to go out and get food and such made it even worse. He dragged himself up the stairs and into the room that Ian, Gabriel, and Jamie shared and grabbed his own clothes before shutting himself in the bathroom for thirty minutes.
When he came out he felt better, but his head still hurt and he was coughing a little more than when he went in. The eighteen year old pushed the sick feelings away and grabbed up his gun before heading to the front door. He checked to make sure the coast was clear before calling out over his shoulder,"I'm going out I'll be back later," and shutting the door behind him. The ride to the store wasn't to bad and he was able to get in and get out in a matter of thirty minutes. The only thing he did not grab was stuff that had to be kept cold.
He planned to take a little time to himself today, Ian was home he could watch over everyone for a little bit. He pulled to a stop in front of Starbucks and checked to make sure things were clear before locking his car and going inside. It was nice to just be away from his family for a bit, no matter how much he loved them they could still get on his nerves.

He rose from his dead sleep and took off to the kitchen. The floor creecked every step he took. He arived in the kitchen and opened the cabinet above the stove and pulled out a bag of dog food. He whistled for Vesta. She came running in and slipped on the tiled floor. She got back up and sat in front of him. He pulled out a bowl with Vesta's name on it and poured some of the dog food into it. After placing it on the floor he went to get his clothes that sat on the living room floor. He slipped on his pants and put on his shirt and headed out for the door.
He left his shotgun next to the door every day he came back from searching for food. He checked the gun and noticed he had very little ammo. Jackson took a box of shells and called for Vesta. He was on his way to a grocery store. Noticing a Starbucks on the side he thought to himself, A nice coffee wouldn't be bad. He parked next to a car that was recently started. He picked up the gun and walked through the glass door covered in blood. The door made a bell sound as he opened it. "Hey, anyone here?"

He had gotten his coffee and taken a seat in the corner, away from immediate sight of anyone entering the store. He knew it was probably one of the worst places to sit in case someone came in and felt that something wasn't right or something. Instead he sat back and stared blankly at the cup of hot, black liquid in front of him. The sound of the bell above the door going off startled him and he jumped, startled, and sent hot coffee all over the front of his shirt and hands. He hissed in pain and grabbed some napkins to wipe up his mess as he took in the person who had just come in.
The first thing he noticed was that the person's clothing was covered in blood. When he thought about it he knew it shouldn't come as any surprise, but if he was covered in blood then there was a big chance that he had just killed some Re-Animated around here. Sighing, he moved so that the person would be able to see him, gun held lightly in his hand. "Yeah, someone's here," he replied, resting a hip against the side of the counter.

After he heard the voice, he quickly replied, "I hope your not elergick to dogs." He went to the back room to get some coffee. "I see that i startled you, let me get you a fresh cup." While he was filling up the coffee he heard Vesta bark loudly. He placed the coffee to the side and ran to the surving area. "Vesta down, down girl!""let me grabb the coffee and we should talk." He walked to the back and picked up the hot coffee. "OW!" The cup fell to the ground and splashed all over. He got to new ones and went to the table. he placed the coffee in front of him and asked, "So, You got a family at home?"

Landon thought it was an odd thing to say to a person after asking if anyone was around, but then he saw the dog and understood the comment. He watched as the man walked off, leaving said dog to sit there and sort of stare at him, while he got coffee. The eighteen year old jumped again, banging his hip against the counter when the dog, Vesta the guy called her, started barking for no apparent reason. The teen took his seat back at the table and waited patiently for the guy to bring his coffee, glad when the cup was placed back in front of him (not that he had really been drinking the first one so much as staring into it aimlessly).
He blinked at the question and nodded slowly, cautious about the guy now sitting across from him."Yeah, an aunt, cousins, and siblings," he replied, hands wrapping around the mug,"you got anybody at home?"

The teen replied with a question. Jackson replied, "no, My wife was killed by a, well you know, and my son is with a friend of mine. I can't take care of kids in the shit." He continued, "Vest is the closest to a family, she keeps me safe." He took a sip of his coffee. "I noticed you car out there, I could help you out with a new truck or expedition and i can make it an apocalypse survivor car. Up to you,"

The teen took a sip of his coffee as he listened to the man talk. He knew what it was like to lose someone, but he didn't know what it was like to not have anyone except a dog. He supposed that he could understand about leaving your child with someone if you couldn't take care of them, but why not give it a shot. After all he had only been nine when this whole thing started and he hadn't known the first thing about taking care of kids. He only barely knew how to take care of himself because his mother used to do the hard stuff like cooking and cleaning and making sure he stayed clean and such. When he suddenly found himself taking care of himself, his brothers, sister, aunt, and cousins he found it hard but he was able to do it.
"You shouldn't have given your kid to someone else," he finally whispered,"what would your wife say about giving her kid away? What if something happens to him and you never get to see him again?" He knew that the man had his reasons for doing what he did, but Landon just couldn't wrap his head around it.
At the offer to get him a better ride he looked up in surprise before his eyes narrowed."What's the catch?" he asked, there had to be a catch. There was always a catch.

"My wife would do the same thing. I already lost one kid and that was because of my and i don't want to do it again," Jackson hit the table "AH!" He started to tear. He wiped his eye and looked at him. "about the ride, there is no catch, all you need to do is follow me, and by the way I never got your name."

Landon flinched when the guy mentioned having lost one kid and how his wife would have gotten rid of the kid too. He would never be able to understand that unless he wound up in that position, which he sincerely hoped never happened. If he ever found the right somebody and wound up with a kid it would be when all of this mess was over with which would probably never happen in his lifetime. This time he did not jump at the guy suddenly hitting the table and waited calmly for him to get himself under control.
It sounded a bit strange to Landon that the guy was randomly going to give him a new ride and all he had to do was follow. Yeah, that didn't sound strange at all. Still, the teen needed a new ride because it was kind of hard to do anything in a car other than get around. The car didn't handle rough terrain easily and he knew it was a matter of time before it didn't get him out of some sticky situation.
"Alright then, where are we going?" he asked, taking another sip of his coffee,"Landon. And I never got your name either...I only got the dog's."

"all we need to do is find a nice truck and some stuff and it will be a dream, grab your stuff from the old car and jump into mine." He looked at his coffee and looked back up at the kid, "well, what are you waiting for." He got up and walked into the back room and took about 4 bags of coffee.
He took the shotgun and shot the ground.

"You have yet to tell me your name," Landon pointed out before he took one more swallow of his coffee and pushed the cup away. He stood up and waited for the guy to go into the back room and coming back with bags of coffee. He jumped when the dude shot the ground and took a couple of steps back."What was that for?!" he cried, staring at the place the bullet hit. He then headed out and took a glance into the car to see if anything other than the groceries was there before looking at the guy.
"Nothing in here that can't wait til I have a new ride," he told the guy as if to explain why he wasn't pulling stuff out of his car. He didn't feel like lugging food all the way to wherever they were going and then going home. There was no telling what could happen between now and the time they found that new vehicle.

"my name is Jackson and we are on are way to a car dealership just make shore that you have a gun cause there is some activity down there" He stepped into the car and called for Vesta. Vesta jumped into to the passengers seat, "Vesta no middle!" she scooted to the middle of the seats. He started the engine and drove off. One they arrived he said,"you choose the car and then you will follow me down to the dump to get some add ons."

He followed Jackson to the guy's ride and hopped in the passenger's seat once the dog had moved over. It didn't take long for them to arrive at the dealership and he got out and looked around. He would have thought that people would have come for new vehicles as soon as things went bad, but apparently they had avoided the dealership. Better variety of choices for him then. The teen looked around at all of the trucks and such, keeping in mind he had to be able to seat eight and not just one or two. He finally settled on a black extended cab truck. Sure it didn't have eight seats, but eight people could fit into it and that was all he needed.
"Alright," he stated getting the door open and starting the truck,"lead the way to the dump." He waited for Jackson to pull ahead of him before falling in behind him.

Jackson had sat and watched as the boy chose the car. After he chose the black extended cab truck we took off. We drove by many of the dead, some still walked. After about 20 minutes of driving, Jackson rolled down a window and shot a couple then laughed. A few minutes later and he has hit one.
He drove slow because all of the cars were in the way. They drove into a little mess on the way tho. Once stopping Jackson honked his horn. that didn't work with getting them out of the rode so instead he got out and kept shooting them. He finnished them all and got back in the Ford. Vesta was gone. He got back out and found chewing on a dead body that he had just kill. "Vesta, in girl." She hopped into the car and they kept going. The drove until they came to a large concrete wall with the dead clawing on it.

Landon watched the man randomly shoot one of the undead from his car and raised an eyebrow. That was kind of weird. The ride was slow going because they were having to get around the cars and it made the teen antsy. He wanted to be away from all the cars and back on his pretty much deserted street. Even after this he still had to go back to the car and get the groceries and then go back to the store and get some milk and other cold things before he would be able to head home. The dark haired almost-adult watched as the guy got out of his car when the things wouldn't get out of the way and just started shooting. It made him wonder just what he had gotten himself into. Still, he had helped the boy get a new ride and was going to help him make it so that it wouldn't be overtaken by Re-Animated.
Not to long after that they wound up pulling up to a concrete wall with the dead...er...undead clawing at it. He looked at them wearily and felt the need to toss the truck in reverse and go back and get his stuff and just go home, but there had to be a reason he was brought here. Sighing he waited to see what Jackson was going to do.
